No More War on Afghanistan!

When: 4:00 – 6:00 pm, 10-06-2017
Where:  South-East Corner of Colfax and Broadway, Denver, CO
Sponsored by: Denver Peace Council

October 6, 2017 is the 16th anniversary of the US war and occupation of Afghanistan. This war has only brought death and destruction to Afghanistan and enormous casualties to US military personnel. Approximately 2,500 US military personnel have been killed. A conservative estimate puts civilian deaths at 80,000 as a result of this senseless war.

The country of Afghanistan is now in ruins, with a massive displaced population. President Trump has just put in place an increase in military involvement in Afghanistan and has ordered an additional 3,000 troops to this country. This will only increase the misery of the Afghan population and result in more deaths to US service men and women.

Come and protest this war and tell our leaders:

US Out of Afghanistan – Bring the Troops Home!

Vancouver, BC, Canada

October 7, 2 PM, Vancouver Art Gallery – Robson Street @ Howe Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z2H

organized by  Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) – Canada

In October, 2001, the US government and their allies, including Canada, occupied Afghanistan. Today, 16 years of war has hardly brought the promised end to terrorism and better life for Afghans. This war has been a great tragedy for the Afghan people. Civilian casualties are climbing year over year, with at least 1600 killed in the first half of 2016 alone. It has cost billions to taxpayers in the US, Canada, and other NATO countries, even as those governments cry that there is no money for basic necessities like health care and education.

Now US President Trump is sending thousands of more troops to Afghanistan as part of a permanent US occupation, which will advance their strategic and economic goals in the region. If there is to be an end to this long war, it will be because we the people in the US, Canada and around the world fight for it. For sixteen long years, the Afghan people have been fighting the very same governments which have been cutting away at our rights and freedoms in our own countries. We owe the Afghan people our active support and struggle against this brutal and unjust war.

See the poster here: http://www.mawovancouver.org/materials/posters/171007-MAWO-Rally.pdf

Join MAWO in the streets of Vancouver as we unite voices with people in the US and around the world and demand:
US Out of Afghanistan!
U.S./Saudi Arabia Stop Bombing Yemen!
US/Canada/NATO Hands Off Syria, Iraq, Venezuela, North Korea, the Middle East & North Africa!

16 Years of War, 16 Years of Shame

The United States’ war against the people of Afghanistan is now the longest foreign war in this country’s history. October marks the 16th anniversary of that war, and Donald Trump has already introduced a troop surge and has promised even more troops and advisers on the ground.

U.S bombs do not bring peace or justice, only death and destruction. Our troops have no place in Afghanistan. We demand an end to this racist, illegal, and deadly imperialist war!

Organized by:

  • People’s Opposition to War
  • Imperialism and Racism (POWIR)

When: Saturday, October 7
Where:  We will meet in Wynwood outside of Panther Coffee for a rally and interactive art display, followed by a march.
